Tunables
Precision OT’s tunable transceivers offer the ability to adjust the wavelength of a transceiver to meet the transport requirements of your network. Using a tunable transceiver means fewer part numbers to maintain/deploy. In a situation where, for example, up to 40 different transceiver part numbers are needed in a fixed-wavelength DWDM system, tunable transceivers can reduce this part count to just a few or even one SKU (stock keeping unit), depending on the platforms included in the deployment. Minimizing SKUs has a large impact in reducing both CapEx (capital expenses) and OpEx (operational expenses). By keeping a few tunables on-hand, design changes and planning errors can easily be accommodated without adding extra expense such as truck rolls. All Precision OT tunable transceivers can be programmed in the field at the time of deployment using one of Precision’s external transceiver management modules.
