Charity Begins at Home: Our Culture of Giving

At Precision OT, we are serious about giving back to our local community. Rochester, New York, has given us an incredible home to build our business and we are always finding ways to repay the goodwill. From educational institutions to local charities, our team is always eager to support a worthy cause with tangible results.

As our CEO David Halladay says, “We’re proud to continue supporting the Rochester community by employing local talent, partnering with local organizations and boosting the local economy. We want to give back to our hometown, which has been integral to our success.”

Here are a few different ways in which we have reached out to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Operation Helping Hand:

As part of Operation Helping Hand, we donated to seven local organizations including Dreams from Drake, Foodlink, Ontario Food Pantry, Pittsford Food Cupboard, Rochester International Academy, Spencerport Education Foundation and the Urban League of Rochester. They were selected as part of our program that allows Precision OT employees to submit their favorite local non-profit groups for consideration.

Dreams from Drake:

In 2019, we sponsored the 6th annual Dreams from Drake Birthday Bash in Rochester. The annual event is designed to offer a fun-filled day of activities for children and teens who recently lost a sibling, parent or guardian. Dreams from Drake provides a myriad of resources for children and teens navigating their unique healing processes.

Clarkson University:

We’re working with Clarkson University on an ongoing basis to support their innovative research in the area of optical network simulation. We are assisting the university in integrating optical network emulation functionality into Mininet, an open source network emulation and simulation tool. Begun in September 2019, the project is set to last up to two years. When complete, it will provide a host of new, powerful capabilities for access and transport optical network operators to design, test, and troubleshoot their systems virtually.

All the selected organizations are doing amazing work in the community, from distributing food to those in need to providing resources that enrich teaching and learning opportunities in the Rochester area.  We hope our contributions will bring positive change to the community we’re proud to call home.

As we like to say, charity begins in the home. With a strong culture of giving, Precision OT is always on the lookout for more ways to assist our fellow New Yorkers. Stay tuned!
