Precision OT Participates in OIF 2024 PLL Interop Demonstration at OFC 2024

Rochester, NY —April 3—  Precision OT, a global optical system engineering and integration company, announces that it has successfully participated in the OIF PLL Interop Demo hosted during OFC 2024 in San Diego, California. As the largest multi-vendor interoperability demonstration OIF has hosted at the event,  47 OIF members showcased breakthrough solutions in speed, power and density in four key areas: 800ZR and OpenZR+ optics; Energy Efficient Interfaces (EEI); Common Electrical I/O (CEI) channels; and Common Management Interface Specification (CMIS) implementations. In particular, Precision OT contributed OpenZR+ optics to the demonstration and testing.

“It’s always exciting to get together with some of the brightest minds in the optical networking industry,” says Pol Torres Compta, Principal Field Application Engineer at Precision OT. “It’s amazing to see how a commitment to interoperability and software support for third-party pluggables is creating a fully interoperable ecosystem for OpenZR+. We were exceptionally pleased with the results of the demonstration. This will continue to pay off for the world’s cable and telecom operators as well as transport network providers as they drive 400G adoption for a variety of applications.”

Precision OT’s success at the OIF PLL Interop Demo comes against the wider backdrop of network operator interest in embracing the benefits of IPoDWDM and 400Gbps service within their networks for purposes past DCI, including metro, regional and long-haul purposes involving P2P extended reach and multi-hop network architectures. However, leveraging OpenZR+ optics has traditionally brought challenges for network operators used to having different teams for IP and Optical/Transport systems. Adoption of OpenZR+ is now merging these network functionalities and responsibilities from the two teams together, creating a number of challenges around systems integration and network management tools for cable operators, telcos and other network service providers. The work done at the OIF PLL Interop Demo is advancing the OpenZR+ landscape to the next level in terms of interoperability and integration, making it simpler for end-users to navigate the new frontier of 400G.
