La s\u00e9rie de normes G-989 d\u00e9finit les caract\u00e9ristiques des impl\u00e9mentations NG-PON2 (Next-Generation Passive Optical Network Stage 2) qui permettront aux d\u00e9bits de donn\u00e9es \u00abfibre jusqu&#039;au domicile\u00bb ou \u00abfibre jusqu&#039;aux locaux\u00bb de atteindre jusqu&#039;\u00e0 40 Gbps. C&#039;est bien au-del\u00e0 des capacit\u00e9s de la technologie PON actuelle. L&#039;UIT-T consid\u00e8re que NG-PON2 est le successeur de GPON (Gigabyte-capable PON), qui peut atteindre des d\u00e9bits de 2,488 Gbps en aval et 1,244 Gbps en amont, et 10G-PON (\u00e9galement appel\u00e9 XG-PON1), qui est capable de 10 Gbps en aval et 2,5 ou 5 Gbps en amont. NG-PON2 est bas\u00e9 sur une architecture multi-longueur d&#039;onde, point \u00e0 multipoint. Il utilise le multiplexage par r\u00e9partition dans le temps et en longueur d&#039;onde (TWDM) coupl\u00e9 \u00e0 des \u00e9metteurs-r\u00e9cepteurs optiques accordables pour fournir un d\u00e9bit d&#039;acc\u00e8s en aval maximum de 10 Gbps pour chaque longueur d&#039;onde. Typiquement, quatre \u00e0 huit longueurs d&#039;onde sont utilis\u00e9es dans les deux directions. Un seul terminal de ligne optique (OLT) au bureau central d&#039;un fournisseur, fonctionnant via un s\u00e9parateur optique, peut alimenter jusqu&#039;\u00e0 256 unit\u00e9s de r\u00e9seau optique (ONU) dans les locaux du client. Un grand avantage de la nouvelle norme est que NG-PON2 peut r\u00e9utiliser les r\u00e9seaux de distribution optique existants con\u00e7us \u00e0 l&#039;origine pour GPON ou XG-PON1. De plus, le plan de longueur d&#039;onde NG-PON2 permet la coexistence avec ces technologies ant\u00e9rieures sur le m\u00eame syst\u00e8me. Les principaux fournisseurs de services, dont Verizon, Energia et Vodafone, ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 men\u00e9 des essais sur le terrain de NG-PON2. L&#039;essai Verizon a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 fournir le haut d\u00e9bit FiOS au domicile d&#039;un client \u00e0 cinq kilom\u00e8tres du bureau central \u00e0 des vitesses sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 10 Gbps. L&#039;UIT-T consid\u00e8re NG-PON2 comme &quot;une \u00e9tape majeure dans le domaine des r\u00e9seaux d&#039;acc\u00e8s&quot;.
