Una vez que esta se\u00f1al se env\u00eda por la fibra \u00fanica, se debe realizar una operaci\u00f3n inversa para recuperar los flujos de informaci\u00f3n independientes originales. Esta operaci\u00f3n inversa se conoce como demultiplexaci\u00f3n. Al igual que los multiplexores, el dispositivo demux tiene sus propias especificaciones que deben tenerse en cuenta al dise\u00f1ar un sistema de red. El dispositivo presenta p\u00e9rdida de se\u00f1al como parte del proceso de demultiplexaci\u00f3n; esto debe tenerse en cuenta al dise\u00f1ar el enlace. Tambi\u00e9n se debe considerar la p\u00e9rdida, ya que puede oscilar entre 2db y 3db. Por \u00faltimo, el demultiplexor debe ser compatible con el multiplexor que se encuentra en el extremo opuesto de la fibra.\u00a0<strong>Un sistema b\u00e1sico de RX\/TX<\/strong>\u00a0Como la comunicaci\u00f3n es bidireccional, es t\u00edpico que un multiplexor y un demultiplexor est\u00e9n presentes en ambos lados del enlace.
